Schematic Capture and Printed Circuit Board Software
Esta página em Português
is an open source (GPL) software for the creation of electronic
schematic diagrams and printed circuit board artwork.
Designed and written by Jean-Pierre Charras, a researcher at LIS (Laboratoire des Images et des Signaux) and a teacher in IUT de Saint Martin d'Hères (France), in the field of engineering and image processing.
Kicad is a set of four softwares and a project manager:
Eeschema: Schematic entry.
PcbNew: Board editor.
Gerbview: GERBER viewer (photoplotter documents).
Cvpcb: footprint selector for components used in the circuit design.
Kicad: project manager.

The why of this space?
Besides the great potential, the package Kicad is an excellent tool for professionals and hobbyst, mainly due to the excessive cost of commercial software that are prohibitive for students and hobbyst. This space was created to share ideas, tips and materials about the Kicad.
The software is far superior to many found in the market, most of them paid.
This topic have the objective to provide the tools made by me (and collaborators willing to help spread this great tool - Kicad).Continue...
Tips/comments:Several tips on using Kicad, using 3D objects, etc..
Manuals and tutorials
manuals translated, several tutorials (minitutorial Kicad, 3D
tutorial, post board in the 3D view, etc..) Files,
interface translation, etc.
Libraries of components for layout, PCB footprints and 3D modules developed by me and collaborations, participate! (Note: the items below that do not have 3D footprint (module), or component to the scheme, they are already available - even if the names do not indicate, directly, the same often holds true in the opposite direction - component without footprint and/or 3D already have an equivalent, see the topic tips!)
3D images of some boards developed with Kicad, some with photos of the boards ready and mounted.
