Mod2Mod 0.15 beta test 20070705i (copyright Renie S. Marquet Jul/2007) Warning: this is a beta test, still under development and may require many adjustments. This tool is being developed to facilitate the organization of libraries of modules (footprints) for Pcbnew. A major reason for starting this tool came from the large number of libraries converted from other software for the Kicad by other contributors to this great project, as several libraries contained footprints duplicate fooprints with the guidance of some pins mistakenly converted, manipulate, edit the library by library, component by component into the editor of modules would be almost impossible! CAUTION: Before you change an existing library, make a backup copy to avoid future problems (deleting a module by mistake, for example). Note: also files of PCBs (.Brd) can be used to generate new libs, only modules will be considered (and repeated as often as they appear to be on PCB)! The screen consists of three main areas: - Search: To view a library commonly used as source, providing components for a new library. Offers some display options (Zoom's) and copy the module (Footprint) for the library edition. - Editing: Here is the actual work area, allows open library to be modified to create new, edit the text commands that make up the modules, delete modules, receiving modules of the research library etc.. - Command sets (area between the two earlier): Commands of the two navigation libraries together, eg Next, change the presentation to the next module of both libraries, especially useful to compare libraries. In the editing area there are some special buttons besides the intuitive; - Button XX -: remove prefix all names of the modules are equal to the name the library. - Button Name: change all settings "> NAME" by the names of the corresponding modules. - Erase button: Deletes the current image of the module presented, should be used after changing some command line that compose the module. - Convert button: interprets the commands that compose the selected module, generating the current image of it, should be used in conjunction with the Erase button after any change the commands that compose the module. - Switch: toggles whether or not show the texts contained in the command module (Does not change the module, only the presentation of the image). TO DO: - Implement new features to facilitate editing of the commands that make up the modules. - Improve the presentation of text (size, orientation, position, etc.).. - Identify problem converting some drawings of arches (this is difficult, worse that in VerLib). - Implement the same mechanism Tokicad enabling the translation of the interface and messages to other languages. - Create a HELP / manual! - A few more things that arise :) ! And like all free software, the author is not liable for the use of it, is directly or indirectly, is offered "as is", the risks and responsibilities are delegated to users. All comments, suggestions, and bug information to a simple "hello" will be well received and answered by the author (if your mail is not answered with at least one "Thanks for the info," or did not arrive until the author or the author's response did not to you, Renie S. Marquet always responds to all e-mails as soon as possible). Enjoy, and do not forget to help evolve the software! Renie S. Marquet
